The Research Data Center (FDZ) at the Statistisches Landesamt is responsible for making existing data from the state statistical offices available to the scientific community.

Representatives of the FDZ provide an overview of the structure of the FDZ network and the data available (microdata from official statistics):

  • Taxes (e.g., wage and income tax statistics, Taxpayer Panel)
  • Households (e.g., Microcensus)
  • Business/company data (e.g., AFiD).

They also provide information on practical ways to access the data, the requirements that must be met, and the costs associated with data use.

The session will also address aspects that are important for students:

  • How can this data be used for their own term papers or research projects?
  • What is important when providing high-quality data?
  • How does one ensure data protection when working with highly detailed data?

The FDZ provides dedicated workstations for visiting researchers to conduct data analysis on-site.

The event will take place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in HS 21 from 4:00–6:00 p.m. (sharp) and is open to all interested students. Registration is not required.
