Nadja Dwenger is featured in the latest episode of the ZEIT economics podcast “Ist das eine Blase?” (“Is this a bubble?”) hosted by Carla Neuhauss and Zacharias Zacharakis. The public economics expert spoke with the hosts about the current situation of the middle class.

“How can we reduce the burden on the middle class?” is the overarching question discussed by Nadja Dwenger, Professor of Public Economics at the University of Hohenheim, in the latest episode of the ZEIT business podcast “Ist das eine Blase?” (Is it a bubble?) with Carla Neuhaus and Zacharias Zacharakis. The CDU and SPD want to reduce the tax burden on the middle class. That's what they wrote in the coalition agreement. But the governing parties are arguing about exactly how to do that. And do the ideas of the two parties even make sense? Or are there better ways to reduce the burden on low-income earners and the middle class? That's what this new episode of Ist das eine Blase? (Is that a bubble?), ZEIT's economic podcast about money, power, and justice, is all about in conversation with Nadja Dwenger. She says: We definitely have a problem with fairness, but it's not so much about taxes as it is about social security contributions. Because they place a disproportionate burden on low-income earners.

Hear more about this in the latest episode of “Is this a bubble?“. (GERMAN)
