Networking and sharing in a relaxed atmosphere – PhD Barbecue [09.06.26]
This year’s PhD Barbecue hosted by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hohenheim took place on June 8. PhD students from the Economics and Finance doctoral programs, as well as postdocs, professors, and faculty staff, gathered at the Thomas-Müntzer-Scheuer (TMS). The relaxed atmosphere provided an opportunity for both professional and personal interaction.
The annual PhD barbecue hosted by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences is a lovely tradition. After taking a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this event - which serves as an opportunity for networking and exchange within the faculty—is now back on a regular basis. On June 8, everyone got together for a barbecue at the Thomas-Müntzer-Scheuer (TMS). The event offered a great opportunity to get to know one another better across departments and institutes and to chat with one another.
The weather was also on our side at the start, so the evening could begin outdoors. Food and drinks were taken care of: meat and vegetarian dishes were prepared on the grill, along with a salad buffet and beverages. Even though it started to rain toward the end, it did nothing to spoil the good atmosphere.
The focus of the evening was on personal and professional dialogue. The participants took the opportunity to get to know each other better outside the context of their daily academic work. The barbecue offers PhD students in the doctoral programs the chance to network more effectively with one another as well as with postdocs and professors. This helps them not only with their own research work but also with information regarding their doctoral studies and the associated administrative procedures.
