Daniel Heyen is a professor of environmental economics at the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau, associate researcher at ETH Zurich, Fellow of the CESifo Research Network, and member of the Standing Field Committee on Environmental and Resource Economics (AURĂ–). He is an applied theorist working at the interface of decision theory and environmental economics.

His main research interest is in societal decision-making under uncertainty and learning. Key topics are the description of scientific uncertainty, the value of information and forecasts, the design of risk regulation, and the precautionary principle. A second line of his research focuses on strategic aspects of environmental technologies with geoengineering (aka climate engineering) as an important area of application.

In the winter term, excellent international scientists visit the University of Hohenheim in the research seminar and give lectures on their research. In addition to attending the lecture, there is often a special opportunity during office hours to exchange ideas with the guest, e.g. about the own research approaches.

Master's students are also welcome to take part in the research seminar and talk to the speakers as well as the doctoral students, postdocs and professors at the institute.

The lecture will take place on December 17, 2025 at 12:00 pm, HS 32.
