Report of the 1st NGE Spring Workshop in Hohenheim
NGE - Next Generation Economics - is a network of young scientists in Economics, which was founded in 2017 at the University of Hohenheim. By now, many young researchers from different universities (Hohenheim, Mannheim, Duisburg-Essen, Giessen, Tubingen and Sydney) joined NGE.
In April, NGE organized a two-day Spring Workshop with interesting lectures on the latest empirical research, e.g. in the fields of Health Economics, Public Economics, Labour Economics, and with national and international guests from Bonn, Cologne, Munich, London and Abu Dhabi. Highlights of the program were the keynotes by Jonas Jessen (IZA and Berlin School of Economics) and Jan Nimczik (ESMT Berlin). From the University of Hohenheim Tim Ruberg from the Chair of Econometrics and Empirical Economics was part of the organizational committee. Jasmin Vietz and Giuseppe Cappellari from the Chair of Public Economics took part in the event as presenters and discussants.
Program
In addition to the presentations, the workshop was a perfect opportunity for stimulating discussions, both after the talks and during informal exchanges, and for networking among the young researchers.
The Spring Workshop was already the second workshop of the NGE network. Due to the very positive feedback, the series will be continued in the future.
The workshop was kindly supported by the Department of Human Resources Development/University of Hohenheim.
