Master

The Department of Economics offers teaching in the three Master's programs in Economics, International Business and Economics and Management as well as in the Master's programs in Business Education and Business Information Systems, some of which can also be completed as double Master's programs with foreign universities. We also participate in the interdisciplinary Master's program Bioeconomy.
 
 
The English-language Master's program in Economics is characterized by the combination of the latest theoretical and empirical research, as well as a variety of selectable majors. A pleasant group size and an optimal supervision ratio enable a sound education that prepares students for a research-oriented career. The eleven Chairs of the Department of Economics offer the classic courses in microeconomics (Advanced Microeconomics and Game Theory), macroeconomics (Advanced Macroeconomics), optimisation methods (Optimisation in Economic Theory) and econometrics (Introductory Econometrics). In addition, there are numerous Master's courses in the free elective area, e.g. Empirical Public Economics, Globalization and History, Labor Markets and the Macroeconomy, Monetary Economics, Time Series Econometrics.
In the English-language MSc International Business and Economics, we teach basic methodological knowledge in business mathematics (Mathematical Methods for Business and Economics) and econometrics (Econometric Methods for Business and Economics). In addition, we offer a series of advanced courses in the compulsory specialisation area of International Economics (International Trade & Inequality, Multinational Firms, Globalization and History, Innovation Economics: Theory and Empirics, International Finance, International Macroeconomics). In Data Analytics, the courses offered are Microeconometrics, Topics in Microeconometrics as well as Statistical Learning, Applied Data Science Lab and Time Series Econometrics. Further advanced economics courses are open to students of the Master's program International Business and Economics in the free elective area.
In the cross-faculty English-language MSc Bioeconomy, we offer introduction to economics (Basic Economic Concepts for Bioeconomists) and provide a holistic understanding of the transformation to a sustainable economy (Economic Policy Analysis of the Bioeconomy).
A large part of the economics courses can be taken in degree programs offered by other faculties.
All professors of the Department of Economics supervise Master's theses related to current research topics.
