Our research activities cover a wide range of topics in the field of economics. In our studies, we attach great importance to a unique approach as well as social and political relevance. We do research on current topics from a broad economic spectrum, e.g., in the areas of inequality, transformation and bioeconomics.
The evaluation of reliable and up-to-date data are one of the most important requirement for scientific work at the highest methodological level. For the analyses of our research, we combine theoretical modeling with empirical application. Due to our excellent connections to national and international authorities and institutions, we have access to unique data and thus the possibility to integrate extraordinary questions and references into our research.
To explore our research approaches from different perspectives, we work in interdisciplinary teams and international projects. In addition, we participate in the research activities of the three research centers of the University of Hohenheim: Bioeconomics, Global Food Security and Ecosystems, and Health Sciences.
The Department of Economics offers optimal research conditions for renowned economists from all over the world. Within the framework of a wide range of projects and our research seminar, international colleagues are regular guests at Hohenheim to discuss their current research.
